Sumy State University welcomes two faculty members from Bingham University (Nigeria) to lecture for three months in the framework of cooperation agreement between institutions.

In 2019, representatives of Ukraine applied for participation in the program of advanced training in pathology for the first time with the support of the European Society of Pathology (ESP).

The researchers of Sumy State University organized the 2017 IEEE International Conference on Nanomaterials: Applications and Properties September 10th-15th , 2017. The numerous international meeting took place in Zatoka, Odessa region.

On September 28th the Director of the Central Institute of Science and Technology (Sri Lanka) Randzhamini Veravatta visited Sumy State University. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the leading university and to discuss the prospects of further cooperation in the field of education, including the admission of foreign students.

According to the SCImago Institutions Rankings SSU was ranked the sixth among Ukrainian higher education institutions and entered the TOP-200 universities of Central and Eastern Europe. More than 2800 world universities were assessed on their scientific and research, innovative and social activities.

The universities that reached the acceptable number of publications (minimum 100 scientific works in Scopus database for 2014) were ranked. 11 Ukrainian universities overcame this measure and SSU is among them.

The ranking is formed from 2010 and is based on the data from the independent sources: Scopus bibliometric database, Worldwide Patent Database (Patstat) and webometrics databases.

Except higher educational institutions the ranking also includes 1200 research institutions, over 800 health protection institutions and more than 170 private companies, involved in scientific activities. Thus, the SCImago Institutions Rankings is the largest international ranking of the academic and research- related institutions of the world.

The article ‘Experimental control of transport resonances in a coherent quantum rocking ratchet’ written by Sergey Denisov, a senior lecturer of SSU Department of General and Theoretical Physics, was published in the prestigious journal ‘Nature Communications’.

On February 11th, 2016 Sumy State University held the international webinar “Innovative teaching and learning” with the participation of nearly 50 teachers from Switzerland, Estonia and Ukraine.

On February 16th, 2016 Sumy Regional Press-Club held a press conference called ‘SSU student projects competition: Ukrainian-unique initiative of the Student Government.’
