BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

ACTIVITY

Today, one of the main directions of development of the country is the development of medical equipment and materials for medical purposes, which requires the involvement of highly educated specialists with knowledge and skills in biology, medicine, medical technology, medical electronics, materials science. Healthcare facilities are users of a large number of medical equipment, including diagnostic, laboratory, hospital, narcosis, respiratory, X-ray and radiological, physiotherapy, washing and sterilizing equipment, rehabilitation equipment and others. In addition, there is an intensive development of health informatization in Ukraine, which also requires an appropriate status of engineering personnel. There are spheres with indeterminate specialists in medical establishments of the Ukrainian health care system, which are sometimes involved in very responsible medical and diagnostic procedures using sophisticated medical equipment and aggressive technologies (artificial circulation devices, programming artificial heart rate drivers, artificial heart, and artificial heart). etc.). Overseas are biomedical engineers who fill the space associated with the operation of sophisticated medical equipment in the healthcare system, as doctors are not properly trained.

A separate multidisciplinary field of science and technology, Biomedical Engineering, which combines engineering and life sciences, is responsible for addressing engineering problems in health care.

Biomedical engineering is:

biomedical equipment and technologies, biometrics, bioelectrics, medical electronics and monitoring, receiving and processing biosignals and medical imaging, biomaterials and biocompatibility, service and technology technologies, biomechanics, telemedicine, modeling and simulation, rehabilitation engineering, design and design, computer graphics, medical informatics, cell and tissue engineering, laboratory and analytical techniques, aspects of legalization (certification) of medical products. span>

By international standards, Biomedical Engineering majors cover several areas:

  • Biomedical engineering (mainly research, development, production and materials science),
  • clinical or medical engineering (certification, operation and service),
  • medical physics (radiation monitoring and radiation protection),
  • Biomedical cybernetics and telemedicine (Health Information Space)
  • medical biotechnology (genetic, cellular, tissue engineering, organ cultivation).

PREADING

In preparing masters in biomedical engineering, the focus is on the study and practical application of biomedical systems, measuring instruments and sensors, systems for processing and displaying biomedical information. Modern biomedical systems of engineering necessarily include the IT component - from numerous methods of modeling biological objects to information computer expert systems and telemedicine. Together, this complex provides advanced quality training.

Employments

Biomedical engineer - an employee in the field of development, design, production, operation, repair, maintenance, examination and certification, assessment of compliance with technical regulations, biosecurity and biosafety standards of biological and medical equipment, biomedical products and biomaterials, related organs, biological and medical technologies, as well as related software and information technology for biology, medicine
