On February 11th, 2016 Sumy State University held the international webinar “Innovative teaching and learning” with the participation of nearly 50 teachers from Switzerland, Estonia and Ukraine. One of the main subjects discussed during the webinar, was problem-based learning.

The scientists from University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) provided many examples from their own experience concerning the case studies and situational problems. Hans C. Curtius, a research associate from the Institute for Economy and the Environment of University of St. Gallen described using the negotiation process modeling while studying the academic discipline on climate change. According to Hans C. Curtius there’s a good tradition concerning students of University of St. Gallen having completed the lecture course together with the colleagues from six other European Universities to participate in the two-days training on modeling of the UN climate negotiations, where they pretend to be the representatives of different states, large industrial companies and non-governmental organizations.

Among the other speakers of the webinar there were:

• Johannes Binswanger, a Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy, School of Economics and Political Science, University of St. Gallen;
• Jacqueline Gasser-Beck, a Managing Director of Digital Learning, University of St. Gallen;
• Stefanie Hille, a Professor Assistant of Energy Consumer Behaviour, Institute for Economy and the Environment, University of St. Gallen;
• Nadiya Kostyuchenko, the Dean of the Teachers’ Training Faculty, Sumy State University.
